More than one-fifth respondents plan to purchase tablet PCs over the next one year, according to a recent survey conducted by consulting and market analytics firm Compass Intelligence.

Of 1,103 respondents surveyed in the 2nd quarter of 2011, 23% plan to buy one or more tablets, while 35% are interested in purchasing a tablet PC but are not sure when they plan to do so.

According to the survey, most of the respondents continue to purchase tablets for personal use.

Professional Services, Finance/Insurance, and Construction/Field Services were among the top in terms of plans to purchase tablets in the next 12 months.

Businesses with 5 to 99 employees (the small business segment) appear to be more likely to buy tablets than other sized firms, as roughly 30% plan to purchase tablets over the next one year.
