Tired? Sore eyes? Get the saw out, says Nova Office Furniture Inc: the Chicago, Illinois-based company reckons that putting your monitor on the desk is a bad idea – but all you have to do, says Nova, is cut a hole in your desk and install one of its monitors underneath: apparently, most people find it easier to focus when looking downward than when looking straight ahead or upward and so Nova is selling desks purpose-designed for an underneath monitor, and also a retrofit kit to help you chop a hole in your desk; Retrofit kits start at $500, with complete workstations costing up to $4,500 – hate to tell them, but the editor’s desk cost about $40 – back in 1984.
