The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has selected Zeus Technology to help manage its key medical applications for ensuring vital data such as medical records and patient results are always available to hospital employees across its main sites.

The Zeus Load Balancer will seamlessly enable hospital’s 500 employees to access 150 web-based systems for medical records and patient results, via the Trust’s two datacentres.

Trust Assistant Director of IT Services James Rawlinson said by using Zeus across their virtual infrastructure, they have been able to ensure availability across both sites quickly and with the reliability they need.

The hospital is now planning to roll out additional specialised systems on the Zeus platform.

To ensure efficient use of servers of the hospital, the load balancing activity has to be real-time and dynamically managed as 80% of its infrastructure is virtualised.

Zeus Technology Chief Strategy Officer Kosten Metreweli said many organisations today are using web-based applications for mission-critical operations.

"Managing a virtualised infrastructure like that at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust must be real-time and in-line with the capabilities afforded by using virtualized environments," Metreweli said.
