Hackers have reportedly found a security hole in Apple’s iOS that could be potentially exploited by criminals to remote control Apple devices including iPads and iPhones.
According to a report by Reuters, the website www.jailbreakme.com has released a software code that could be used to modify iOS, the operating system used in Apple’s mobile devices.
Such intrusions, known as jailbreaking, is usually use by customers to modify their devices so that they can use applications that are not approved by the manufacturer.
Security experts have said that the same code could be used to modify and and plant malicious software in the devices.
Internet security firm Websense senior researcher Patrik Runald told Reuters, "If you are a malicious attacker, it is fairly doable."
Apple has said that the company is preparing a fix to the problem and that it would be available in a software update soon.
A few days ago, online hacktivist group Anonymous stole and published some usernames and passwords, from www.abs.apple.com, which Apple uses for online surveys.
The group warned, "Not being so serious, but well … Apple could be target, too. But don’t worry, we are busy elsewhere."
