Indonesian telecommunications company PT Telkom is ready to talk multimedia now, and says it has signed a joint venture agreement with three companies linked to conglomerate Bimantara Citra to provide interactive multimedia services. The PT Telemedia Indonesia joint venture is shared 35% by PT Telkom, 25% by PT Asriland, while PT Telekomindo Prima Bhakti and PT Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia have 20% each. Rajawali is a unit of Bimantara, a conglomerate controlled by President Suharto’s second son, Bambang Trihatmodjo, and Telekomindo is a cellular phone venture co-owned by Telkom and Rajawali. Asriland, owned by Trihatmodjo, owns 38.41% of Bimantara.
