France-based 3D and product lifecycle management (PLM) offerings provider Dassault Systèmes has introduced its Version 5 Release 21 (V5R21), a newer version of its PLM portfolio.

V5R21 will deliver digital continuity from engineering to real shop floor manufacturing operations to support customer needs, and is enabled with Version 6 technologies for better co-existence of V5 and V6 offerings in customer environments.

V5R21 delivers upward and downward compatibility between CATIA V5 and V6 data and supports relational design between CATIA V5 and Version 6, enabling efficient collaboration between OEMs and their supply chain.

V5R21 features some functionality enhancements which include new CATIA Lofting capabilities, improvements to ENOVIA SmarTeam Express’ offering for the industrial equipment and energy industries, and improvements to ENOVIA’s concurrent engineering functionality.

It also features new composites analysis enhancements to SIMULIA Extended Analysis and Version 5-compliant Intercim MES capabilities.

Some of the other design enhancements in the new offering are CATIA Imagine & Shape, a virtual clay modeler based on subdivision surface technology, which is suited for Dassault’s automotive customers.

The new offering also enables import composite properties from the CATIA Composite Design (CPD) workbench into an analysis model, expanding the composite structural analysis capabilities of CATIA integrated analysis.
