Fujitsu, a provider of information and communication technology (ICT)-based business offerings, has released a new a database management system (DBMS) designed for small- to medium-sized systems, Symfoware Server Lite Edition V10, in Japan.

The use of Fujitsu’s smart technology in the Symfoware Server Lite Edition V10 allows it to be deployed and operated even without expert engineers, said the Tokyo-based company.

The smart technology automatically determines and optimises hardware and software conditions. The company said that with its smart technology, the product delivers smart set-up and smart recovery features that automatically optimise database set-up and recovery.

Symfoware Server is utilised in arrowhead, the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s securities trading system.

In addition to Lite Edition V10, Fujitsu has also introduced higher-end versions of Symfoware Server.

The company said that the Symfoware Server line, including Lite Edition, can be used as a database program for cloud computing platforms.

Among key features of Symfoware Server Lite Edition V10 are: automatic optimisation of tuning parameters; flexible adjustment to disc increases and alterations; smart recovery feature, secure recoveries in the event of trouble; one-touch recovery; and continuous back-up during operation.

The offering works with Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 OS and is applicable to servers with up to one embedded CPU.
