Box Hill Systems Corp is launching a bunch of products at Unix Expo in its home town of New York. The company claims its new RAID Box 5300 Turbo achieves up to 4,500 input-outputs per second for total sustained output of 60Mb per second. It can accommodate from 4Gb to 432Gb data. The RAID box sells for $1 per Megabyte. Box Hill has teamed with Coopers & Lybrand Consulting to develop Mod Box Cluster HA, a high availability system for Sun/RAID systems running Informix, Oracle and Sybase databases. Coopers & Lybrand will provide technical services for the Mod Box Cluster HA, while Box Hill will sell it. Additionally, the company is introducing two digital linear tape drives, which support up to 40Gb, and three media changers. The drives cost 25 cents per Megaby te.
