San Jose, California-based TeleVideo Systems Inc has entered the sound board business with two boards, the TeleCombo Audio 32 and the TeleSound Pro 16, which are being launched by the company’s new Multimedia Division. The TeleCombo Audio 32 combines wavetable and FM synthesis in one, providing professional music studio quality stereophonic sound of real musical instruments, the firm says. It features speech synthesis, voice recognition, reverb and three-dimensional sound enhancement and is based on QS500 signal processor Wavetable synthesis with 32 polyphony and 4Mb of wavetable sampling in 2Mb ROM, as well as Yamaha OPL3 FM synthesis device with four operator and 20 voice channels. It supports 16 MIDI channels, delivering authentic 128 general MIDI instruments with 51 drum kits and FM synthesis in CD-quality sound. Featuring 16-bit digital audio recording and playback and sampling and playback rates of up to 48KHz, it brings music studio quality sound from 52 voice channels. Users can record and mix stereophonic sounds from diverse audio sources simultaneously, the company says, and bonus software bundled in includes recording session, sound impression, speech synthesis, and voice recognition software. The TeleSound Pro 16 is a 16-bit sound board for personal computer audio systems delivering CD-quality stereophonic sound. Based on OPL3 FM synthesis device, it is compatible with all multimedia sound standards including the Sound Blaster, Ad Lib, Microsoft Sound Systems, Roland MPU-401 and MPC 2. TeleCombo Audio 32 is $350, available in April. Evaluation and demonstration samples are available now.
