IBM Corp greets the festive season with the multimedia machine for the gamer who has everything – and even given it the added cachet of being a limited edition. Aimed at the kinds of conspicuous consumers that shop at Nieman Marcus or Harrods, the Aptiva Ultimate Gamer M91 features Matrox Inc Millennium three-dimensional graphics accelerator, a second hard drive – each stores 1.7Gb, 133MHz Pentium with Level 2 cache, 16Mb and a six times standard speed CD-ROM drive. It also includes Looking Glass Technology Inc’s Flight Unlimited, Papyrus Software Inc’s Nascar, and Sierra On-Line Inc’s 3-D Pinball. For boring people that want to do some work too, the system includes scores of productivity, education and communications software titles, including Lotus Smartsuite 4.0 CD-ROM; Windows95 is preloaded, and it costs $5,000 with the G200 monitor (and having spent $4,500 dollars, we can’t see too many people spoiling the ship by settling for the G70 monitor).
