Digital Equipment Corp, Banyan Systems Inc, and FTP Software Inc have released beta test copies of the Microsoft Windows95-based client versions of Pathworks, Vines and Banyan Enterprise Networking Services, and Network File System products. Windows95 will include built-in support for Novell Inc NetWare servers and Windows NT and, according to Microsoft Corp, will include integrated networking enabling users to log on as clients to multiple types of server, simultaneously. Also promised is support for server-based software upgrading and Simple Network Management Protocol. The one name notable by its absence is Artisoft Inc, which licensed Windows95’s VXD network virtual device driver at the same time as Banyan, DEC and Novell (CI No 2,524).
