Network Equipment Technologies Inc has signed a UKP5m contract with Federated Department Stores, owners of Bloomingdales, to install a new Integrated Digital Network Exchange. The network will span nine department store chains across the US. According to Network Equipment, the installation will provide single meshed communications for voice and data applications and local area network interconnection and add Frame Relay capabilities. All nodes will be equipped with the integral NET LAN/WAN Exchange multiprotocol router, which will interconnect local area network-based client-server applications at the stores. It will also consolidate multiple Systems Network Architecture circuits onto a single Token Ring local area network, says Network Equipment.
