Edinburgh, Scotland-based VLSI Vision Ltd is working on more prototypes using its CMOS-based Imputer camera and image processing module, it told the Financial Times: it has worked with De La Rue Plc to develop a fingerprint recognition system that can match a sample print against stored prints in no more than one second and can be used to permit access to a building: the firm has also developed a single chip video camera that sells for under $10; the firm sells its video products as basic chips, as modules to be incorporated into products for around UKP20 and as complete cameras (CI No 2,187); VLSI Vision says it now has a UKP5m worth of orders and expects to be looking for some form of funding in the next year to finance its next phase of development; last year it received a large cash injection from Holland, Michigan-based Donelly Corp, a collaboration that resulted in the development of an anti-glare rear-view mirror for use in cars.
