Westford, Massachusetts-based Cascade Communications Corp has announced the B-STDX 8000, the latest member of its B-STDX Multiservice wide area network switch family. According to the company, the product is a fully redundant, eight-slot modular switch that supports Frame Relay, Switched Multimegabit Data Service and Asynchronous Transfer Mode for wide area applications. It features symmetrical input-output architecture, and optional redundant control processor and intelligent input-output modules. On the management side, it offers Simple Network Management Protocol for network management of Frame Relay and Asynchronous Mode networks, with support for an Simple Network Management Protocol agent that accesses the Cascade Enterprise Management Information Base. It is shipping now. A base configuration costs $15,000.
