In a move aimed at cutting expenses, Apple Computer Commonwealth of Independent States will cease holding local stock and plans to ship direct from the major Apple Europe warehouse in Holland. As a result the company is closing both its Moscow warehouse and its logistics department. The new regime aims to save Apple expenses connected with transport, customs and storage. A few of Apple Computer CIS’s local partners will be granted the right to make direct purchases from Holland. Managing director of Apple Computer CIS Jean Jacques Maucuer says that the new arrangement should also lead to faster delivery times. He says that Russia accounted for about a half of the 25,000 computers sold by Apple in Eastern and Central Europe last year.
