Apple is recalling some of its iPad2 tablets designed for Verizon’s network over a connectivity problem.
Apple has said that it will replace the affected units which have duplicate MEID codes.
Mobile equipment identifier or MEID is a unique number that identifies a mobile device when it is connected to a network. As per rules, two devices cannot have the same MEID code.
According to reports Apple has found that the duplication of codes were present in a range of iPad 2 SKU numbers.
An Apple spokeswoman said, "Duplicate MEID codes were flashed onto an extremely small number of iPad units for the Verizon 3G network."
The spokeswoman did not say how many units were affected.
Verizon has not commented on the matter so far.
