Funny how these people never seem to be able to trace a call even when it’s a matter of life and death, yet when it’s the phone company’s money, suddenly something can be done: AT&T Corp’s Global Business Communications Systems unit has formed an investigative unit of high-tech cops to monitor, track and catch people trying to use the telephone system without paying: the unit will profile hacker activity and initiate electronic stake-outs with its business communications equipment customers in co-operation with the police and work with the police to prosecute the thieves; AT&T will press for custodial sentences for hackers.
