Having called in Xyratex Ltd to help get the things into production (CI No 2,882), Cambridge Display Technology Ltd is finally ready to show off first fruits of its labor and will show a prototype Light Emitting Polymer dot matrix display at the Society for Information Display meeting in San Diego later this month. The prototype consists of a grid of 12 pixels but measures only 60mm by 20mm, for a density of 100 pixels per square centimeter. The size is limited by the company’s in-house equipment rather than the technology, and the Cambridge company is working with Xyratex to scale the technology up to useful sizes.
