Austin, Texas-based Evolutionary Technologies Inc has released version 3.0 of its Evolutionary Extract data conversion and integration tools. Version 3.0 is claimed to automate the retrieval, transfer and transformation of data from any database or file format to others. Evolutionary had to hold back the launch from September to last month, as it was working with Object Design Inc to build the MetaStore database, a new element in version 3.0. MetaStore supports the versioning of meta data and conversion specifications. It enables users to build a comprehensive and detailed audit trail, and to simplify point-in-time access to historical data. It is part of version 3.0’s expanded Metadata Facility, which also includes a Metadata Exchange Library, and report generation. The Library enables users to export meta data from the MetaStore database to any other repository or database, import meta data from other sources into the database, and merge meta data from multiple sources. Version 3.0 has a Motif and Windows front-end and conversion editor. Version 3.0 was due to ship on December 31 for Solaris, with support for HP-UX and AIX due in the current quarter. Evolutionary is working on a licensing agreement with Informix Software Inc, and may do a deal with Red Brick Systems Inc. Meanwhile, Evolutionary has built a new Data System Library for SAP AG’s R/3 to enable the Extract Tool Suite to automatically create programs in SAP’s ABAP/4 language; it is said to deliver legacy data directly into SAP R/3, and to move data from SAP applications into data warehouses. Prices for the new products were unavailable.
