MRV Communications Inc, Chatsworth, California Gigabit Ethernet equipment company with strong Israeli connections – it bought one Israeli company last year and bought Fibronics International Inc from another Israeli, Elbit Ltd – in September – has caught the eye of Intel Corp, itself a big investor in Israel. Intel is to pump $4m into MRV by buying 200,000 new MRV shares at $20 a share. Intel gets warrants to buy an 500,000 additional MRV shares at the same price, with conditions. MRV describes the investment is an extension of an existing relationship between the two companies, saying they have worked together on Gigabit Ethernet local network switching products.
