IBM Corp has picked up TM/1 Perspectives multidimensional database and spreadsheet integration software for on-line analytical processing from Sinper Corp, Warren, New Jersey, and will market it in the US and Puerto Rico. TM/1 Perspectives are described as the integration of the TM/1 multidimensional database and Microsoft Corp Excel or Lotus Development Corp 1-2-3 spreadsheets. TM/1 is claimed to enable end-users to create effective and efficient decision support systems for tasks such as budgeting, consolidation, ad-hoc analysis, sales and marketing analysis, and preparing scheduled and ad hoc reports. It enables changes made by any user to be updated throughout all levels of consolidated data, such that all users have access to the most up-to-date and consistent data all the time; the ability for users to do real-time what if analysis at any level of detail or consolidation; and the ability to do consolidations on-the-fly, without the need for scheduled batch processing. Separately, Platinum Software Corp, Irvine, California-based financial software company, says that it has signed up to incorporate the Sinper TM/1 multidimensional database management system into its SQL Enterprise financial applications family.
