A consortium including Cable & Wireless Plc is one of the winners in Colombia’s bidding for cellular franchises, Reuter reports from Bogata: the Celcaribe SA consortium, in which Millicom International Cellular Inc has a 40% stake, gets the Atlantic coast, Occel SA, in which Cable & Wireless has 20% and Itochu Corp has 5%, gets the western region covering Cali and the Pacific coast, and Comcel SA, where BCE Inc has 40%, won the eastern region, which includes Bogota and the plains near Venezuela; local state-owned telephone companies have the majority interest in all three consortia – the only bidders.
