Nokia has launched a new gold-plated smartphone, Oro.

The ‘Oro’, which translates to ‘Gold’ in Italian, comes in a 18-carat gold casing, leather coated back panel and a sapphire crystal in the home key.

The new smartphone is powered by the new Nokia’s home-grown OS, known as Symbian Anna.

The smartphone is equiped with a redesigned interface, a portrait onscreen QWERTY, re-jigged social networking features and speed boost.

Nokia said that the new smartphone comes with a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, 720p HD video and the same connectivity options as Nokia C7.

The company expects to introduce the Oro from the third quarter in selected markets for approximately €800.
