San Jose, California-based Xilinx Inc said it expects net profits and revenue for the second quarter ending September 28 to be below the levels posted in the first quarter. It expects revenue to be 12% to 13% below the first quarter level of $150.2m and operating profit, before a $5m pre-tax, non-recurring charge related to the discontinuation of the company’s anti-fuse technology, would be between $33m and $35m. The provider of programmable logic devices reported operating profits of $49.5m in the first quarter of fiscal 1997. It said net profit before the write-off is expected to be $22m to $24m versus $32.5m in the first quarter.
