The liquidation of Commodore International Ltd’s assets is reaching a climax, and according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, there are two new bidders for what is left. One is German personal computer manufacturer and distributor Escom AG, and the other is a major American technology company represented by Louis Ulysses of Seattle, who declined to reveal its name. Escom’s attorney said the German company had been willing in September to pay $12m for the remains of Commodore, and is still interested, but would probably no longer be willing to pay that amount, because the sale has been delayed so long. Only Creative Equipment International Inc of Miami and a management team from Commodore’s UK subsidiary had hitherto publically expressed interest in the assets, and the original bids from each were thought to be higher than Escom’s.bid.
