IBM’s servers and storage technology has been selected by Gulf Oil to enable their Lubricants division to manage, track, and leverage information and processes effectively.
Gulf Oil has selected the new IBM Power 7 and System x servers and System Storage products to provide real-time information analysis for business management.
The IBM offering stack for the SAP ERP system was implemented across all the offices of Gulf Oil Lubricants division in India along with IBM’s Power 770 and System x servers mounted on the BladeCenter H Chassis with System Storage DS5020 Express and TS3200 Tape Library Express.
Gulf Oil finance head Manish Gangwal said their rapidly growing business needed a robust, scalable and high-performing infrastructure. They chose to buy the IBM hardware stack because of the unified approach they presented to them to solve their business need.
"The implementation of the SAP ERP system on IBM systems and storage ensures high performance of the business application, while reducing our energy footprint and increasing return on investment," Gangwal said.
IBM India/South Asia West region general business vice-president Vivek Mehta said companies rely on an efficient IT infrastructure to support business-critical applications and they believe that their systems implementation will help Gulf Oil realise their vision of being one of the top positioned players in Lubricants segment.
"In addition, our innovative workload optimised systems ensure a reduced energy footprint, which was a key benefit that Gulf Oil was looking for," Mehta said.
