Hyundai Electronics Industries Ltd has formed a new Flash Memory Division headquartered in Sunnyvale as an offshoot of Milpitas-based Hyundai Electronics America. The new unit apply new Flash memory technologies developed by the division’s founders, and will eventually employ some 150 people; it expects to enter the market with new products in 1996. The company says the new initiative is a step on the road to its long-term goal of becoming the leading supplier of memories – it is already a major player in dynamic memory chips and sees Flash as providing the next most significant sales opportunity in memories. It has hired Tom Anderson, former president of Delta Tech Corp and International Technologies, as president of the new division and people from Advanced Micro Devices Inc and Zilog Inc.
