3DLabs Ltd, formerly known as Du Pont Pixel, will target its GLiNT 300SX three-dimensional graphics processor at the personal computer multimedia market. The chip has 1m transistors and 250,000 gates – the aim is to for first parts by September. GLiNT will be available by January 1995. The Egham, Surrey-based Du Pont management buyback estimates it will generate $70m a year in revenues. GLiNT cost $20m to develop – the firm says it is talking to most of the major vendors, including Apple Computer Inc about taking it.
