Chelmsford, Massachusetts-based Mercury Computer Systems Inc has formed a development and marketing partnership with New Jersey-based Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Co. The two demonstrated a new workgroup-based video editing system at the National Assocation of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas last month. Mercury describes its digital video server as a low-cost and scalable video editing system that is optimized to support up to 20 audio and video DVCPRO streams. Based on PCI system modules, Mercury’s RACEway technology extends networking and disk input-output performance without stressing the server CPU, the company claimed. This means that systems can be built to sustain higher data rates to more clients cost effectively.
