Israeli company VocalTec Ltd, pioneer of Internet telephony, is now shipping Internet Voice Mail 3.0, speech messaging software designed as an add-on to electronic mail. According to the Herzliya company, the package integrates speech and text for multimedia messaging. Spoken messages can be sent with a voice mail player, so that recipients without the software can hear them. Features include the ability to save, forward, track and reply to messages, and to make speech, text and file attachments. Drag-and-drop file transfer is also included. The Herzliya company, which maintains its US base in Northvale, New Jersey claims that the software offers full compatibility with most major electronic mail packages. A microphone and copy of Microsoft Corp’s Internet Explorer are included in the package. The company is expecting the street price for Internet Voice Mail 3.0 to be around $30.
