Very helpful of Sharp Corp to decline to describe the processor in its Wizard handheld organisers (CI No 2,479) – but not very bright really: Psion Plc made no secret of the fact that it was using a NEC Corp V30H – the NEC copy of the 8086 that made Intel Corp so cross – when it launched its very successful Series 3, and whether Sharp likes it or not, for a long time yet, the biggest market for its Wizards is going to be tecchies, and tecchies want to know what they are buying – and will assume from Sharp’s reticence that the thing uses only a 4-bit microcontroller.
