Symantec has introduced Security Assessment for Salesforce, a new security application that will be available on the AppExchange, a business app in the cloud.
Symantec’s Security Assessment for Salesforce will help organisations extend the visibility of their IT infrastructure to include cloud-based applications, said the company.
The company said that the offering integrates with the Symantec Control Compliance suite, providing customers a comprehensive view of the security and compliance of information and applications whether they reside on premise or in the cloud.
Symantec enterprise security group senior vice-president Francis deSouza said building confidence in the cloud ultimately means that customers will have the same visibility and control of their information and apps whether they are in the cloud or residing on their own infrastructure.
"Together, Symantec and salesforce.com are innovating to deliver more visibility and transparency for customers moving to the cloud," deSouza said.
The company said that Security Assessment for Salesforce will be available for test drive and deployment on the AppExchange in Mid-2011.
