Acronis, a provider of disaster recovery and data protection offerings, has launched its new Backup and Recovery 11 offering.
The new product help organisations simplify their disaster recovery and data protection needs across physical, virtual and cloud environments by providing its disk imaging technology, said the company.
The new Backup and Recovery 11 is an integrated offering for the backup and recovery of images, files and Virtual Machines (VM). Its support for applications such as Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server will become available later, the company said.
The offering features (for all environments) include: data protection capabilities; improved disaster recovery plans; new staging and multi-destination; and improved support for tape drives and tape libraries.
For physical environment, the new offering features an ability to restore and migrate to dissimilar hardware for Linux environments, and has a better deduplication performance.
For virtual environment, the Backup and Recovery 11 features: simultaneous backups of multiple virtual machines for VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V; single agent for multiple VMware ESX hosts; LAN free backup; and support for cluster shared volumes (CSV) – for Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
For the cloud, the new offering features increased capacity options based on customer demand for storage space.
The company said that the new offerings online for workstation — storage space is doubled to a maximum of 500Gb; online for server — storage space is increased by 50% to 1.5Tb; and Backup & Recovery 11 online for virtual machines is doubled to 4TB.
Acronis CEO Jason Donahue said running separate offerings can drive up costs and integration between technologies, even from the same vendor, is difficult.
"Add migrations to the backing up of data across physical, virtual and cloud environments and it’s clear that IT managers today are relying on overly complex legacy technologies," Donahue said.
"Through this new integrated platform, we expect business to benefit from simplified data protection and management and the flexibility to choose what they need when they need it."
