Cambridge, Massachusetts-based UPI – Continental Cablevision and Performance Systems International Inc rolled out what they call the first cable service link between home computers and the Internet, for businesses in Cambridge, and will offer the same service next month to individuals: they did not disclose how much they will charge for the service, but they commented that since the new service will use broadband cable rather than telephone lines, they will be able to transmit information not only at a much faster speed but also with much wider vareity, including video and audio information: the firms said the service, dubbed PSI-Cable Internet, will be expanded beyond Cambridge in the second quarter.
