In an effort to defend its Oracle Financials and other applications from predations by fast-rising SAP AG, Oracle Corp signed a Global Alliance Agreement granting Unisys Corp the right to sell the entire line of Oracle products for all hardware and operating systems worldwide. The two will also join forces in development, co-marketing, sales, services and support. The new pact expands an existing 10-year agreement that previously allowed Unisys to resell only Unisys versions of Oracle database products: the new pact covers all hardware and includes applications as well as database products, and includes unannounced products. Unisys Worldwide Informati on Services established an Oracle Financials practice to provide business process re-engineering and imple mentation services in Eur ope last year, and it will now go global. Oracle also said it will add 500 to 700 people to its applications sales force over the next year, to more than 1,700.
