Norwood, Massachusetts-based Microcom Inc has formed a technology partnership with Gandalf Technologies Inc under which the Canadian will incorporate Microcom’s modem technology into its Xpressway central site concentrators. According to the terms of the agreement, Gandalf will integrate Microcom’s customized, six- port V.34 – 28.8Kbps – modem technology into an Xpressway module capable of supporting up to 30 analog connections per board. The deal will enable the Nepean, Ontario company to pitch the Xpressway at both corporations and Internet service providers, and promises high density analog remote access with up to 120 analog connections per chassis. Richard Busto, vice-president of strategy, business development and network services at Gandalf commented, By incorporating Microcom’s modems into our remote access offerings, we can now offer companies a single system that provides end users with a choice of either analog dial-up or ISDN access.
