Forte Technologies Inc has announced the CyberPuck virtual reality game controller, the first in the company’s new line of stand-alone three-dimensional peripherals. Previously, CyberPuck was only available as part of the VFX1 Headgear System, an immersive and interactive virtual reality system. The company claims CyberPuck is compatible with all games and applications supporting a standard personal computer joystick interface. The CyberPuck is the claimed to be first virtual reality peripheral of its kind: resembling a hockey puck, it enables users to navigate virtual reality and gaming environments by holding the puck in hand and moving it around in the air. The built-in sourceless tracker measures pitch (forward and back) and roll (left and right) at +/-70 degrees per axis. The company claims that it has ergonomically designed the controller for left- or right-handed people and included the three programmable buttons of the traditional mouse. It connects to a standard personal computer game port.
