Canon Inc says its US subsidiary will take over responsibility for Latin America from a Panamanian unit in an effort to restructure its Latin American sales operation in line with the implementation of the North American Free Trade Ag?reement between Mexico, Canada and the US. Canon Latin America Inc, Canon’s wholly owned unit in Panama which is heading sales activities for Latin America, will move to Miami, Florida, on June 1. Canon will continue sales activities in Panama even after Canon Latin Amer?ica moves to the US. Canon Latin America’s sales on a group basis, which include sales from units in Mexico and other Latin American nations, were about $170m in 1995.
