3DO Co, Mountain View has been awarded a patent by the US Patent & Trademark Office on software used to create three-dimensional audio effects by controlling the playback of recorded sound, the New York Times reported: the software regulates sound characteristics – pitch and volume to create an added sense of dimension, and can make instant three-dimensional sound for interactive games, the Times reported.
