Advanced Embedded Middleware for storage and communication provider HCC-Embedded has released a MISRA compliant TCP/IP stack for embedded applications.

HCC’s MISRA-compliant embedded TCP/IP is a high-quality, high-performance stack that will reduce the risk and cost of using complex software in critical systems, claimed the company. It is fully compliant with MISRA-C:2004.

MISRA coding standard is widely used in the medical, industrial, telecom and aerospace industries. HCC has combined MISRA with its own coding standard to create a concise subset of the C language for use in embedded communications systems, the company said.

The design has tested up to four times faster than comparable stacks when processing packets, the company said. It requires 14KB of ROM and 12KB of RAM in a fully configured system.

The stack can be used with many RTOSes, or without an RTOS and support for a broad range of microcontrollers is available. Included are products from ARM, Renesas, Freescale, Microchip, NXP, STMicro, Texas Instruments, Atmel and others.

Implementation and maintenance are based on software audits and V model implementation, including change management.
