Hitachi Ltd will roll out a line of Intranet software and services for creating Virtual Private Networks (VPN) in Japan over the next nine months. It may ship the products in the US in the future, but has no firm plans. First services will ship in August and include the company’s multi encryption algorithm. Products include Internet VPN, firewall, browser, RDA link for Gateway, TP/1 message queue www gateway, an Oracle Web server option, network security investigator, investigate agent and capacity manager plus Intranet design, development and servicing. Hitachi says users will be able to access their company’s information securely over the Internet from outside PCs, notebooks or personal digital assistants using the VPN. The products will run on HP-UX and Windows.The VPN is due in late September from around $1,700; Web browser and internet gateway software and services starting at $3,500. Its intranet management and administration software will be priced between $7,000 and $18,500.
