Just as AT&T Corp announced the closure its Network Notes service (CI No 2,863), British Telecommunications Plc launched its own offering to enable companies to exploit Notes applications. Commenting on the AT&T decision, it told Computergram the announcement would make no difference to its Notes strategy. British Telecom customers agree a fixed monthly rental for connections, independent of data volumes or connect time. They can access the network via the local loop, ISDN, Groupe Speciale Mobile for mobile users or Switched Multimegabit Data Service for high bandwith users and the Internet if required. Concert, the British Telecom and MCI Communications Corp company will provide access to more than 42 countries via its Concert Packet Services, and for higher speeds up to 2Mbps, its Frame Relay Service.
