Borland International Inc has entered the workgroup server market with InterBase 4.0 Workgroup SQL server for Windows NT and NetWare. InterBase has all the usual data integrity features, installs in less than 15 minutes and can be managed by a part-time database administrator, says the Scotts Valley, California company. Interbase’s engine prevents user lockouts and provides immediate recovery from system failures. It also provides access to Borland’s forthcoming application development environment, code-named Delphi 95 (CI No 2,524), as well as to Borland C++, Paradox for Windows and dBase for Windows. InterBase 4.0 server is accessible by any Open Database Connectivity-compliant front-end application. It’s $650 for a two-user licence, $195 for each additional user. Ten-user licences cost $167 per user.
