Kingston Bagpuize, Oxfordshire company Network Designers Ltd has announced Transparent Communications Technology Application Bridge, a set of client-server application development tools for use with the company’s Transparent Communications Technology product for bringing corporate information to the personal computer. Transparent Communications Technology accesses hosts over Ethernet via NDIS boards or over X25 using the company’s own intelligent X25 board. The Application Bridge comprises two parts: the Application Bridge itself and CBridge. The former is a code generator-development environment, said to enable users to build and develop Windows-based programs using screen-based objects. Mainframe server and local data can be incorporated from multiple databases including DB2, Ingres, Oracle and Sybase, as well as SQL databases says the company. CBridge takes code from Application Bridge and generates Windows executable programs using Borland International Inc or Microsoft Corp C, or C++. According to Network Designers, by harnessing multiprotocol software with a set of Windows-based application development tools on a client personal computer, the Application Bridge replaces the cumbersome front-end traditionally associated with mainframe terminal emulation. The pricing and availability will be given later this month.
