HP Enterprise Services has been awarded a four-year $68.1m data centre services contract by the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM).

Under the agreement, HP will provide enterprise-wide data centre management support services for the US Special Operations Command’s global enterprise information technology server and storage computing environment.

HP’s services will include improved availability, heightened data security, reduced complexity and increased stability of the information technology environment, said the company.

The company said that the services will be performed in multiple stateside and overseas locations.

HP Enterprise Services US public sector senior vice-president and general manager Dennis Stolkey said the volume of stored information in the world has doubled in the last few years.

"HP leads the industry in data centre consolidation and transformation, enabling greater efficiencies and more secure information sharing," Stolkey said.
