Olicom A/S, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, has signed a marketing and interoperability agreement with Cisco Systems Inc under which the two will jointly promote Asynchronous Transfer Mode systems based on their respective products. Olicom says that the attraction for Cisco is that the Olicom RapidFire Asynchronous Mode adapter is the only model available to take full advantage of Cisco’s Simple Server Redundancy Protocol. While Olicom will conduct most of the interoperability testing, Cisco is making a substantial donation towards the cost of the effort. Cisco will also use its headquarters in San Jose, California, to perform fault-tolerance and resiliency testing. Olicom has implemented the Simple Server Redundancy Protocol, along with the Dynamic Connection Redundancy protocol on version 2.1 of its Cell Driver software, which will be supplied across its range of RapidFire 155Mbps ATM adapters.
