Developers can now create Common Object Request Broker Architecture-compliant applications using Reston, Virginia-based Visix Software Inc’s Galaxy application environment courtesy of PostModern Computing Technologies Inc’s ORBeline object request broker (Object ObServer 1). PostModern Computing has created a GalaxyDispatcher C++ class from its existing Dispatcher class, which maps ORBeline events to Galaxy events, enabling Galaxy applications to process Galaxy and ORBeline events at the same time. When remote applications invoke Common Object Request Broker Architecture objects, the call is routed through Galaxy’s event management system to the appropriate object, according to Visix. There is no formal relationship between Visix and PostModern Computing, only the possibility of some joint marketing activities in the future, and developers that want to take advantage of Common Object Request Broker Architecture under their Galaxy implementations will have to buy ORBeline from PostModern.
