Pilot Software Inc’s Internet Publisher add-on to its on-line analytical processing Decision Support Suite Version 5 (CI No 2,983) has now gone into beta testing, for general availability in the first quarter of next year. Using Web browsers for the front-end client systems makes it cost-effective for occasional users to access information in a company’s data warehouse, says the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company. Using Active X or Java controls, browser users can gain access to dynamic rather than static information, using simplified versions of the query facilities available on Pilot’s full-blown client front-end. A personal cube feature allows for the replication of relevant data to field sales people using laptops for off-line analysis. Eastman Kodak is a beta tester. Pricing begins at $10,000 per server.
