Wyse Technology Inc, San Jose will this week introduce its new Series 7000i Model 765 server for departmental and small business computing, based on the symmetric multiprocessing architecture that it licensed from Sequent Computer Systems Corp about six years ago. The Model 765 can incorporate up to two 66MHz Pentiums and is conceived to be sold by value-added resellers as a multi-user system, a network file server or an application server. It has eight EISA slots and comes with from 16Mb to 512Mb of memory. Unix System V.4, Santa Cruz Operation Inc MPX, Microsoft Corp Windows NT, or OS/2 will be offered pre-installed; other operating system options are MS-DOS, UnixWare, NetWare, and Solaris. The things are available immediately, and a uniprocessor machine starts at $10,000. Existing Series 7000i Model 760MP users can upgrade their 66MHz 80486DX2 boards to Pentiums for $1,500.
