WaveAccess Inc has announced the launch of the Jaguar family of portable 2.4GHz wireless local network products. The Jaguar, which uses frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology, increases the data rate available to users of wireless local network systems to 3.2Mbps and is claimed to deliver throughput as much as five times faster than other, currently available market offerings. The company also boasted that Jaguar will be marketed at price points between 14% and 35% less than competitive products that offer half the data rate. The Jaguar PC132 PC Card will list for $600, while the Jaguar AP132 Access Point will list for $1,300. Both products will also be available in OEM and Private Label versions and will begin shipping in the early autumn.
